Of Distractions and Writing by Committee

I’m always telling people they shouldn’t write for free… I don’t always follow my own advice. I’ve volunteered to head a project that, among other things, requires what has turned out to be a 12 page registration packet (originally it was 16 pages, so 12 feels like progress to me). Roughly half is boilerplate… which I felt compelled to edit just a bit. The rest is forms and original material.

I wish I’d never become a power Word user, but there you have it.

Anyway, it turns out this particular writing project is writing by committee, which is always hard to do. I’ve spent most of a whole day on this non-paid project and I’m not through yet…

Write well and often,

  1. I’m gagging just reading about it; not the pro bono bit, but the writing-by-committee bit.
