Office 2007 Service Pack 1 Update Failures Continue

Okay, I’m really getting more and more irritated that this update is not working. I’ve tried everything that’s been mentioned by people in comments. I’ve also researched Microsoft’s Knowledge Base articles to look for solutions as well.

Today, again… I tried to download and install the update manually. First I downloaded the 218MB Office 2007 SP1 update file and tried to install it.

Then I tried to install it again in safe-mode with no luck.

Then I thought maybe I needed to try and install the SP1 Language update first. So I downloaded the 37MB file for that and tried.

I’ve been looking here, here and here, oh yeah, and here. The last one told me to run the Windows Install 3.1 program so I downloaded that and installed it and tried again.

Then I saw…

@$(*^@(*!%!

I’m now beyond irritated!

So I have to ask Jason: What’s the purpose of your blog @ b5media? It seems like alot of what you post about is troubleshooting. There are plenty of troubleshooting forums out here…isn’t this supposed to be about Microsoft technology???

  2. Jason Bean says:

Good question Michael. Although I’m always expanding the context and content of the blog my focus has been more from the “average Joe’s” standpoint of news about Microsoft. What’s the end user experience? What news about Microsoft really matters to the average person? Why? Stay tuned for more expanding coverage of general Microsoft news.

  3. Skeptic says:

Michael, which part of Microsoft do you work for?

Oh, and newflash for ya: Shooting the messenger went out of style in Roman times!

I’m just coming from an “interest” point of view. If the content is interesting then I’ll read, if not well I drop it like a boot. Now I’m not saying that one type of content is better than another, but I thought the blog was about Microsoft technologies which is what I am interested in and what this blog was about.

I look forward to the expanded content Jason.

oh yea…sorry Skeptic, I don’t work for MS. Jason can prolly tell from my host name that I’m not from Seattle. :p

  5. Jason Bean says:

Michael, yeah I don’t think you work for Microsoft, but if you do (or know someone who does) feel free to send me some free technology to review and try-out.
