Office 2007 SP1 – Error 0×80070643

I keep trying to install this recommended update from Microsoft and continue to get an error. A bit more searching today produced this:

Resolutions

1. Start the ose service

    Windows 2003/XP
  1. Run the following command from command prompt to check the state of ose service
    sc qc ose
  2. If the service is disabled, then run the command
    sc config ose start= demand
    Windows 2000
  3. Click Start-Run
  4. Type Services.msc and in the Open box and click OK.
  5. Double click on the Office Source Engine service.
  6. Set the Startup type to Manual and click OK.
For more information on this issue and alternate resolution please click on the Microsoft Knowledge Base link below.

Sadly, this still didn’t fix my problem. Probably not surprising though because the article is referencing Office 2003 and I’m running 2007.

Has anyone had any success with fixing this problem?

    I had the same Problem
The problem is caused by your antivirus of firewall
    software

I’m pretty sure I turned off Windows Live OneCare and tried doing the install again. Still nothing. Did you have a different work around?
