Office 2010 Ribbons

One of the good things that came out of the Microsoft Office 2010 are the visual changes compared to the Microsoft Office 2007. One of these changes include the “Ribbon” which is a major change in the Office interface. It replaces the old menus and navigation with a better graphical interface where buttons are grouped together by their tasks category in tabs.
Applications are able to share a common ribbon interface which includes Outlook, OneNote and the rest of the Office apps. The ribbon includes those of SharePoint. That’s something I probably wouldn’t like. I love SharePoint the way it is and doing the whole Office one interface look makes it look common.
The button on the upper-left corner of the screen is a small rectangle compared to the old circular button. the rectangle button makes the user experience less obtrusive.
From a user interface standpoint, Office 2010 delivers on target.

I’m happy that Microsoft delivered the ribbon in all Office applications in this version. The ribbon makes finding things easier. I really wished haters of the ribbon would try it out a bit more.
