Office Live Really Taking Off

Ever since Microsoft has nixed the waiting list to use Microsoft Office Live the number of domains that have been registered has risen dramatically.

According to an article in Information Week, this could cause a problem with other domain registrars like GoDaddy or eNom. The Microsoft Office Live service which offers small businesses a free domain name, simple website, and 5 e-mail addresses for free, that could really cut into other registrar’s bottom lines.

I wrote awhile back about my Office Live Experience, and although it’s a great offering, I’m not sure it’s enough for the majority of small businesses to really choose the service over other options that may be available to them, at least not for the free version. I’m very interested in hearing what other people’s experiences and opinions are for the service. I know I still use GoDaddy for all of my domain registration name needs. I think what would be really exciting in the offering would be some Microsoft Exchange type of functionality for small businesses.
