Remember that whole ugly incident of the Dallas Police Officer who pulled over Ryan Moats as he rushed to his mother-in-law’s dying bedside?

He has now retired from the police force. The Dallas Mayor agrees that this was a good thing, saying, “What we’ve seen in the last week or so is not what we want to come out of the city of Dallas.”
The officer reportedly still wants to speak with the Moats family to talk about his regret in doing so. I hope the family lets him do that. I think it will bring some closure to everyone involved. If you haven’t seen the video of Moats getting pulled over yet, you can view it here.
What do you think? Should the officer have resigned? What was the right solution in this horrible incident?

I don’t see why this officer had to retire. He did his job, Mr. Moats was in the wrong. If anything, the officer could have escorted them upstairs to see if what they were saying was true and then take it from there.
