“Oh Crap” Situation 1: The Spelling Error

Oh Crap Situation 1

Here’s the situation… you come up with a service pitch for college students – it’s an online tutoring service you have set up. It is the Friday before exam cramming starts and you have to get the word out TODAY (while classes are still in session). Your plan is to type up a brochure and put them under windshield wipers on students’ cars (I hate it when people do that!) and slip them under dorm room doors. You’re up late at 3AM writing the final draft the night before. You stretch, quickly type the URL at the bottom, save it, upload it on your jump drive, and slam your laptop shut. The next day you run to Kinko’s to print out 700 copies. Done. You are just about to slip it under the last few doors when you breathe a sigh of relief and take a second to scan over your brochure again… then it all comes crashing down. You spelled your website wrong. Way to go.

How could you have not seen this before? That was the most important part! Well, there’s nothing you can really do about it now.

Bottom line: You still have to get the word out before cramming starts – what would be your next move?
