Oh the West Virginia Primary…

The West Virginia Democratic Primary is today – it is a “modified” primary (that is, registered Democrats and Independents are eligible to vote).
There are only a handful of primaries remaining to influence who will win the Democratic Nomination for President. And while there are only 28 delegates at stake (and 11 superdelegates) today, the “messages” that these final contests send to the superdelegates (and the country) could be very important as the Democrats prepare for November.
Hillary Clinton currently holds a comfortable lead in the polls. According to a poll taken last week by American Research Group, Inc. of likely Democrat Primary Voters, 66% support Clinton, 23% supports Obama, and 11% support “someone else” or are undecided.
My guess is that this will not be a repeat of the Indiana Primary, and the pundits will be able to call this one pretty early – but, if it gets interesting, check back here for some live blogging – starting when the polls close.
And, of course, we’ll post the final voting and delgate numbers as soon as they are available.
In case you were wondering, West Virginia held its Republican Caucus on February 5th. In the “second vote” Mike Huckabee edged out Mitt Romney to win all 18 of West Virginia’s delegates. However, as part of a deal to secure the win, Huckabee “gave” Ron Paul 3 of the 18 delegates.

After Oregon Obama should have enough delegates to all but wrap up the nomination. As an Obama supporter, I see tonight as a tiny blip in the election cycle.
