Ohio State pays Jim O’Brien…for cheating

It is times like this when I seriously question the American judicial system.
The 10th District Court of Appeals in Ohio rewarded former Ohio State coach O’Brien 2.4 million dollars, agreeing with O’Brien’s claim that he was wrongfully terminated in 2004.
And what did O’Brien do to get fired in the first place? He admitted to giving…oops, I’m sorry…to loaning a recruit $6,000. And because of that “loan”, O’Brien was shown the door, and rightfully so.
Please don’t tell me how college athletes should get paid for their services. They are getting paid with a full-ride scholarship, which isn’t cheap these days.
Coaches fully understand the rules and regulations that the NCAA has outlined. They all know you do not pay players. Period. Yet O’Brien was arrogant enough to believe he could get away with it. And judging by the court ruling, it appears that he did.
What a country…
