Yes, I actually wasn’t a beer drinker when I went to Munich the first time, but I switched to a Radler (beer with lemon soda) pretty quickly after my seventh über-expensive Coke. It was only a short trip to Munich Helles from there.

I am a Canadian living in Germany and was shocked, at first, by the playground corner for kids in most beer gardens. It was second in strength only to the shock of realising that 0.20 liters of pop is almost the same price as half a liter of beer.

As for the kid-friendly part, I’ll confirm it while I’m there and report back. Last time I went, I didn’t have kids, so I couldn’t really judge. One thing is for sure – if I were bringing mine I’d start early, end early, and bring a lot of dollars if the exchange rate keeps going the way it is.

Both my husband and I would love to go to Germany for an Oktoberfest — good to know it’d actually be kid-friendly if we did!
