Olympic Preview Day 8 – Fencing

Members of the Ukrainian and Romanian Olympic fencing teams trained at the Fencing Hall at the National Convention Centre in preparation for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. I have to say that I have a great deal of respect this highly physical sport. They’ve got masks on so their breathing and vision is slightly affected and, well, they are trying to spear each other (safety devices or not, it’s still a spear!). I haven’t actually ever watched a real competition so I am looking forward to the events this year!
