On Google’s “I’m Feeling Lucky”

google-feelin-lucky.jpgIt may be the most wasted piece of on-line real estate in the history, but Google insists on keeping it in tact. Yes, it is Google’s “I’m Feeling Lucky” button on Google’s homepage which intends to sending visitors to the first result retrieved immediately, however, not many use it.

A Washingon Post article this week, looks at this phenomenon and at Google’s reasoning behind keeping it there, and the story behind it:

“If we took it away, there would be mass protests worldwide,” said Marissa Mayer, vice president for search products and user experience. “It’s part of our heritage. It’s part of what users really like about us.”
