One of the Grossest

I’m not sure how many people watched the USPC in 2004, but it contains one of the worst tournament snafus in history, that I’ve seen on TV anyway. The video takes it a little out of context but at this point in the tournament D’Agostino is chip leader of the tournament and Corkins had a huge stack also, and this hand, well, you see what happens, and how upset D’Agostino gets.

Really there’s no logic behind Corkins’s move at all. He moves his entire stack (and a huge stack it is) in to pick up one big blind, knowing he’ll only get called with a hand that has him obliterated.

In the context of the whole televised tournament, this hand is pretty crippling. Here it looks sort of like just another bad beat. But, you know.

Poker.

I remember watching this bad beat a couple years ago.

I felt angry for the guy.

He had every right to be upset. The guy was playing solid poker and then gets taken out by a donkey horrible play.

only to have 1 chip left and then watch your KK lose to two sets you had dominated preflop.
