I just recently tried to buy tickets through craigslist for a concert that was the next day. Found someone selling tickets much cheaper than the brokers were. I called her and left a message but didnt hear back. Tried the nex day and she answered and said all she had left were the tickets for $100 each (still cheap for this concert). So I told her I wanted them. She said she could have them left at will call by Ticketmaster in my name within the next 30 minutes...all I had to do was go to Walmart and send the money through Moneygram. I had never purchased tickets this way, and had NEVER used Moneygram. I said I didn't want to use that method and asked if she could take Paypal. Of course she couldn't! Anyway...all I had to do was read the disclaimer by craigslist to know everything I needed to know. I guess when you're in a rush you overlook those things. Never again. I called ticketmaster first who said unless the person has the same last name, they can't change the will call name. I told her this and she said she had just done it for the concert the night before. And that she had to PHYSICALLY go to a Ticketmaster location. (That made a little sense) So I went to the Walmart. The scammer said the transaction was safe because she couldn't pick up the money until I called to give her my test question answer and confirmation code. That was a lie....I spoke with the MG rep who told me you can pick up the money with just an ID...or sometimes you can pick up the money with just the confirmation code and the test answer WITHOUT an ID. And if the person at Moneygram is a friend of the scammer you are really out of luck. She lived in a small hick town in Mississippi...and you know most people either know or are related to eachother in those small towns. She never got the money...she was calling to see if Id wired it while I was still there talking to the MG rep. They said they see those scams ALL DAY EVERYDAY. BTW...called will call at the Venue who didn't have tickets in my name. Told her this and she said...Well I just changed the name so it may take a while...but they didn't have tickets in her name either. Last contact, 2 hours before the show started, I texted her and said I would wire her the money AFTER the concert starts (called her bluff). She replied she had cancelled the tickets in my name and didn't feel "confortable" waiting on her money. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS ITCH'S NERVE! So you just forfeit the tickets that you supposedly paid for? So who's going to the concert if you're in a diff state? NO ONE - because there were no tickets. Dont get emotional about your purchases...or you will get taken! Always think rationally...no matter how bad you want the item at that great price. Better to want and not have than to pay for it, and still want and not have!
