Online Video Wikia: Inevitable

You know what happens to anything considered “non-notable” or “unencyclopedic” on Jimmy Wales’ nonprofit Wikipedia? Why, it becomes potential content for Jimmy Wales’ for-profit Wikia, of course!

Steve Bryant notes that the Wikipedia list of YouTube stars is woefully incomplete. See, Wikipedia still thinks that certain things are not “notable” enough to be “encyclopedic”. Of course, those concepts are really just holdovers from the days of space-constricted paper encyclopedias. That’s why as of today, the following warning appears at the top of the page:

Editing of this article by new or unregistered users is currently disabled until April 13, 2009 because of persistent promotional spam of non-notable persons.

Of course, we all know what that means: an opportunity to launch an online video Wikia to cover all these “non-notable” persons. Am I right, Jimmy?
