Only Higher Editions of Vista is Allowed for MAC Users

My friend is going to buy a MAC in a few days time and he is thrilled he can use Windows Vista in MAC using virtualization.

Good for him and he must not forget he needs to buy the Business or Ultimate package to be allowed to do so. Microsoft has specifically placed in their license document that virtualization of Home Basic and Home Premium Editions are not allowed which means they cannot be legally run on MAC computers.

Also, even when their Business and Ultimate versions are allowed for virtualization; some functionalities are prohibited like Vista’s BitLocker data-encryption service or from playing music, video, etc.

Buying the more expensive edition would not be as good as their lower versions when thinking of using them in MAC.

Good thing I only use and care about Windows that simplifies my digital life.

    Hi!

This infomation is not perfectly clear:

    1) Home Versions are not to be virutalized, but this is true no matter what operation system you run (so the sentence “legally run on MAC computers” should be rephrased into “no home version on any computer can run legally in a VM”

    2) “Home Basic and Home Premium Editions are not allowed which means they cannot be legally run on MAC computers.”
This is also wrong, because Bootcamp is not a virtualization… so in fact you can run Home versions on Mac Hardware.

(Both statements are my private oppinion, Microsoft might have a differnt point of view…)

    regards

Sorry to nitpick, but generally speaking the Macintosh line of computers is spelt ‘Mac’ (not all capitals) otherwise you can confuse it with the various MAC acronyms (like Machine Access Code, Media Access Control etc.)

Sorry – it’s just a pet peeve. I shouldn’t really be this pedantic, but it’s just so irritating. :)
