Oprah & Aretha Were Unstoppable! How About You? Part 1

I have been trying to find a creative way to share this question I responded to earlier in the week and then I opened my email. Cynthia Kersey of Unstoppable Enterprise, Inc., sent me another Unstoppable story I know you will enjoy!
First here is the question from Yahoo Answers about a college student who wants to be a nurse:
Career CRISIS!?
I wanted to become a doctor when i was younger (10 yrs old) and i think that i made sure everyone knew this. I have decided now (im 17) that i want to be a nurse when i graduate. A doctor takes too much schooling. All my family and friends think that i still want to be a doctor and they keep telling me that i am going to make a great doctor because i am smart and kind. I don’t know what to do because everyone thinks that i will be wasting my smartness (not me) if i become a nurse. I have a feeling that if i dont go into med school, my family and friends will all be disappointed and think that i’ve ruined my life. My family keeps saying that they came to Canada so that i could make something out of myself (like become a doctor) not become something that anyone can be (nurse).
Here is my answer that I believe, based on her feedback, we would all do well to heed:
What do you want to do with your life? It sounds like you already know what that is! Your friends and family will not have to live with the decisions you make for your life. Only you get to do that. My favorite quote about vocation, purpose and destiny is from Sister Act II, it says, “If everyday when you wake up, all you can think about is singing, you’re suppose to be singing, girl!” It sounds like you’re suppose to be going to nursing school. Go for it! Your friends and family will surrender to your purpose as you step into it and accomplish what you believe you are suppose to be doing! Remember it’s about the journey, not the job! Make sure you enjoy the journey! Whether you want to be a doctor, nurse, teacher or painter, don’t let anyone, and I mean ANYONE, get in your way.
