Oram out

New Zealand’s Jacob Oram, the man who singlehandedly made the CB Trophy interesting by systematically destroying any bowler that was silly enough to send down a couple, will miss the start of the World Cup after breaking a finger in New Zealand’s win against Australia yesterday. In his defence it was a good catch, but he did make a hash of it by getting his finger in the way.

This is, however, good news for England, who are in the same group as New Zealand. With Kenya and Canada as the other opponents, England must surely be favourites to win their group.

Which is one thing I never thought I’d be saying about England’s one day side.
