Others succeed where the King could not

Several others did what Roger Federer could not: they advanced at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Andy Roddick defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero handily in two sets (6-2, 6-4). Rafael Nadal had to come from a set down to defeat Philipp Kohlschreiber and Novak Djokovic easily worked over Marin Cilic in straight sets.

Djokovic voiced what so many others have said, “Roger is starting to lose more and more. Players have started to believe they can win.”

Believing is way more than half the battle. Watch out R.Fed.

The best quote of the day though goes to Roddick.

“It’s like a paid vacation (referring to Dubai). It’s weird. It’s like Star Wars…we’re not as inventive back home.”

Oh Roddick. I was going to ask if anyone had ever told the guy that maybe not saying something would be a better course for him but then I realized that his half-cocked, mostly brainless comments are the highlight of my day.
