Pac-10’s Commissioner to Retire

Tom Hansen, commissioner of the Pac-10, has announced that he’ll be retiring on July 1, 2009. He’s been in the position for 26 years and started working in the NCAA in the 1960s, back when there were only 3 schools in the (now) Pac-10 conference.

Although I think Hansen does a good job, I think it will be good to get some new blood in there. In administrative leadership positions, I always tend to think that a new perspective in office.

There seems to be a small exodus of commissioners lately – Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese announced his 2009 retirement earlier this month.
