Painless Project Management With OmniPlan

One of the harder parts about my work is actually managing projects. It’s really a delicate balancing act. You need to manage time, resources and cost. It’s not so complicated when you’re just managing one project, but when you’re juggling multiple projects, that’s a different story. So finding a good project management software is a great thing.
The latest project management software we’re trying here in the office is OmniPlan from the Omni Group. It’s not a new product but we just decided to give it a try now. One of the main stumbling blocks why we haven’t tried it is because of the $149.95 price tag. That’s a bit expensive for a very small company such as ours. That being said, project management is important and if OmniPlan can help then it would really be worth the investment.
Right now it’s too early to say. But there are some good things about it.
From the Omni Group web site, here’s a description.
Plan, monitor, and control it all with software designed to make your job easier, not harder.
With OmniPlan, you can create logical, manageable project plans with Gantt charts, schedules, summaries, milestones, and critical paths. Break down the tasks needed to make your project a success, optimize resources, and streamline budgets. It’s project management made painless.
With the software you get most of the standard tools that you need for project management. You have your charts, summaries, milestones, etc. All of these conspire to making your project much easier to handle. OmniPlan does it in the Mac fashion, which means having a good user interface, relatively easy to understand controls and functions.
Try it out for yourself. There’s a trial download. Let me know what you think.
