You would figure the latest version of Palm desktop would also support the latest 64 bit versions of Windows Vista as well. Not to be however, which leaves a couple of very good options: no longer purchase Palm products or get a Mac instead. Maybe I’ll just do both….
Just purchased my 2 Palm Centros a few days ago and have three computers at home running Windows Vista 64 bit. I will now be taking my Palm Centro back and getting a Blackberry or other phone. Too bad Palm isn’t smart enough to support 64 bit Vista. They would have made a lot of money on the purchases I would have made for different equipment for both my phones. Dissapointed and telling everyone I know.
I have the same problem. I bought a new computer with vista 64 bit and a new cell phone Palm Centrino. I did not have time to sync them together for over a month and now I have 2 usless devices that I cannot take back. I hav eto keep using my old computer if I want to use my PDA! Palm not supporting the newest software is rediculus. It has taken me 3 hour to find out that the software is not compatible.
Downloaded Palm 6.2 desktop for Windows Vista. It corrupted the database and required the purchase of a program to fix it. The desktop is terrible. You can print the calendar without printing all categories, even if you just have one category showing.
Tech support for it stinks. The chat support didn’t even give instructions that applied to Vista even though he knew I was using Vista and 6.2.
I can’t believe it. I hope they get their act together soon. Has there been any official word about if they are working on this?
I Downloaded the palm 6.2 desktop for Windows Vista and the same way of Bonnie my computer is upset…!!!!What Happens Palm Company? Why you can`t creat a good software for Windows vista 64 bit. I have my Palm Life Drive unusless and I don`t want to but another device. You must to hire a new personal to know more about this updated software
I have the same problem: a new Vista 64 bit computer and a Palm Treo 700P that I cannot use now because they are incompatible. Does Blackberry support 64 bit?..If so, Palm is in big trouble….
I have a Vista-64 machine and installed Palm6.2 desktop in skipped cable sync and did a successful sync with Bluetooth. All was well. Then I installed the conduits for Office 2007 and My Docs-2-Go no longer synced. Would love to have that working…

I’ve just successfully installed Palm Desktop 6.2 on a new HP 5200 ATX running a clean install of Vista 64 SP1. After finding comments about corruption when people tried to use 6.2 on their Vista machines while continuing to also use 4.x on XP machines, I bit the bullet and installed 6.2 on my XP machine, too. Although I don’t care for the “downgraded” features in 6.2, everything works fine. I sync via USB on the XP machine, and I sync via my WiFi adapter/router using network sync on my Vista system. Network sync seems to be a good alternative to Bluetooth, which is the only USB alternative mentioned on the Palm site.
I have had the same problem and its weird because its been almost a full year since this first posting and the only resolutions are to go through a network or use bluetooth. Personally, the bluetooth runs too slow and the network just seems like it would take up too much time, especially since most of the time I use my contacts and such is when I am at work. We dont have a wireless connection its all land line ethernet. It is sad… and I love the heck out of this phone but I use my other options enough on this phone that I may have to look for a replacement very soon. :o(
