Paris Hilton’s Image Makeover – ‘Focus on More Important Things’

Finally, Paris Hilton seems to be getting good public relations advice.
After whining to the media and appealing to The Governator about her prison sentence, Hilton issued a statement that makes her sound less like a spoiled brat:
"… I intend to serve my time as ordered by the judge.
"This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to reflect and have already learned a bitter, but important lesson from this experience.
As I have said before, I hope others will learn from my mistake. I have also had time to read the mail from my fans. I very much appreciate all of their good wishes and hope they will keep their letters coming." (via TMZ.com)
Celebrities live privileged lives, so you can understand how they get the idea they aren’t governed by rules that affect the rest of us. But when the backlash comes, it comes hard.
The best thing the Lindsay Lohans, Britney Spears and Paris Hiltons of this world can do is show a little humility and remorse. It doesn’t cost anything, and the payoff can be huge.
Just ask Hugh Grant.
Hilton goes on to undercut her penitent statement by lecturing the media and the public for being obsessed with her brush with the justice system:
"I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials. I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world."
Sorry, someone who has constructed a career out of being a celebrity doesn’t get to complain that people are paying attention to what you do. You’re the one who cried out for attention, so suck it up and live with it.

if paris changes too much i am not going to watch her anymore. maybe her private life should change a little. but anyone who says she hasnt done anything to claim fame is full of bullshit. she is just as good an actor and model as anyone else out there.

You almost had me when I thought you were going to suggest she did acting work that should be recognized, etc., but when you say that she’s “as good as anyone else out there” that doesn’t leave room for anything but a good chuckle.
