Patriots dominate AFC East, but not Colts or Broncos

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Tom Brady
It is the Patriots by a mile. The AFC East is declared over at the half way mark of the season. You have to face the facts. When the Jets, Bills, and Dolphins are in your division and you are considered pretty good, well, it is a done deal. You are the Champions!
The Patriots play the Jets and Chad Pennington this Sunday and Belichick would have you believe the Pats will struggle with the big play potential of the Jets. He is trying to convince his team to be ready, to play hard, to take the Jets seriously.
The Pats will play hard, but not because of the Jets. They will play hard, because they lost to the Colts and the Bronco’s, because New England knows they have to get better. Just being good does not win the playoffs. Just being good is nowhere good enough to win the Super Bowl.
NFL Football Lawrence Maroney factoid Maroney is listed as questionable for this game. He had back to back games in the High School playoffs of 351 yards and 349 yards.
Can the Patriots go from midseason good to late season great? You know they can. You know they can, because the tools to get it done are right there.
Is Tom Brady going to throw 4 interceptions the next time he faces Peyton Manning? Ahh, now there would be a place to improve, wouldn’t it.
Is Denver going to hold the Pats to 1 touchdown? That was a long time ago, with the team still struggling over the Deion Branch situation, before the emergence of Lawrence Maroney, before Watson and Gabriel had learned new roles in the offense. That was a lifetime ago in the NFL.
Yes, on a day when boy does good and returns home to the father (Eric Mangini), there is a lot to prove, a lot to work on.
The Patriot’s mission is now shaped more by the losses to Denver and Indianapolis than anything else.
NFL Football Fan Question Are you picking New England to improve and win it all this year?
As always, any NFL Football related comments are welcome.
