Peekvid Evades MPAA

The MPAA is suing video search engine Peekvid for the mere act of linking to possibly infringing material hosted on other sites. In a testament to the futility of frivolous copyright trolling in a global information economy, Peekvid has neatly sidestepped the MPAA’s nonsense. Traceroute shows they just moved their hosting from Texas to Panama. Take that, Hollywood.

Moving where you host a website doesn’t mean you can evade the law.
PeekVid is owned by two Australians, so unless they plan to move to Panama themselves then they will still face the lawsuit. There is no evading the MPAA here.
Also Peekvid is not “merely” linking to “possibly” infringing content.
The owners of the site have been sent takedown notices informing them that they are linking to copyrighted material so it is not “possibly” infringing is is “definately” infringing.
It is not merely linking because it is sytematically indexing all pirate TV content into one place, running the content through its own custom flash player, and then earning money from the intrusive adverts.
Then I hope they move to Panama. Latinas are hot. ;)
I avoid the mpaa by having my site hosted offshore as well. I get takedown notices all the time and I just label them as spam so suck on that mpaa!
You go, Joe. :)
i’m hosting my site on godaddy,
