Penn State’s Win Gets JoePa #373

Penn State easily coasted to a win yesterday, giving head coach Joe Paterno SPORT NCAA FOOTBALLwin number 373 of his career.

For the record, you can blame my roommate for the horrible pun…but I digress.

JoePa’s win ties him with Bobby Bowden for the most coaching wins in major college football. They are followed by Bear Bryant with 323, Pop Warner with 319, and Amos Alonzo Stagg with 314.

There’s talk that both coaches may retire this year, and if they do, they could very well retired tied. In any case, they’ll probably be EXTREMELY close at the end of the season. Bowden has the advantage of going into the season one ahead, but I think Penn State is overall the better team and will have more wins this year.

Penn State’s win over Coastal Carolina was nothing more than a “practice” game. According to ESPN, “It was over when…the Nittany Lions kicked off or was when they added the Chanticleers to the schedule…” You can read more about the 66-10 blow out here.
