Phoenix Suns Fire Terry Porter

Wow. I really didn’t see this one coming … but at the same time it’s not that much of a surprise. The Phoenix Suns are in a free fall, in fact I’d venture to say that they are a complete mess. Steve Kerr has caused more damage than good with his trade moves and coaching picks. It really makes me wonder if former players should be GM’s. And after only one season (not even a full season at that) Terry Porter is out as the Suns head coach.
Man … that’s harsh. You could at east have let the guy finish out the entire season. I suppose that, since the Suns are hanging by a thread when it comes to the playoff picture, the powers that be figured it was better to let Alvin Gentry take over and coach the Suns down the stretch.
Gentry promised to get the Suns back to the running style that D’Antoni made them famous for. As a fan of the Suns myself, it will be refreshing to see them open up the offense again. And hopefully they’ll be able to run right into the last playoff spot in the West.
Phoenix (28-23) lost five of eight going into the All-Star break and trails Utah by one game for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.
