Plants, The Natural Air Cleaner

How many single men do you know with plants in their house? I can’t think of any off of the top of my head. The fact is that men spend more time inside than outside. The air inside any house is much dirtier than outside in most locations. So what can you do to help keep the air inside fresh and toxin free? Plants. Everyone knows that plants convert carbon dioxide to oxygen, so that’s a great start right? What about other toxins in the air?
A lot of furniture is processed with processed wood. I did a write up on it awhile back. These particle board furniture’s are processed using formaldehyde in the glue. You can normally smell the chemical when you buy and assemble one of thee pieces. The smell lasts up to a couple of weeks some time and the fumes can be toxic. Plants process formaldehyde and chloroform into food for energy.
According to an article in Men’s Health Living and Bill Wolverton, Ph.D. “two or three plants every 100 square feet is ideal, . But even one can help”. That’s a lot of plants if you live in a large home. Two of the best plants for keeping your home’s air clean are the Boston Fern and Gerbera Daisy. Both of these plants clean the air well and are low maintenance.
