Plaxo for Mac OSX

Several months ago, I would have had to take really painful steps to backup my address book online without the help of a .Mac account. The goal was to sync my addresses with Plaxo, an efficient online PIM that syncs with almost any offline mail app / PIM tool. One of the limitations was that it didn’t support native OSX appls like Address Book.

This process would involve exporting my addy book to Mozilla Thunderbird for Mac and then synching that to Plaxo. The process would work both ways and it would be tedious, but I knew that my data was safe.
The happy thing now is that Plaxo has finally released a beta version for OSX. It’s been around for about a month but the development of this app was taking so damn long that people seemed to have abandoned all hope to finding a Mac version out. Now, their prayers have finally been answered.

I didn’t exactly warm up to Plaxo after getting so many requests to update my address book entry (put in by my “friends;” I don’t use Plaxo) that it was becoming a real bother. I had the feeling that it was the “system” sending out such requests on an automatic basis becaue I have not changed my phone numbers and email addresses in about three years, and all my friends know that…
And because of that I delete every Plaxo “invite” that lands in my mailbox…
