Here are some common situations where you might be wondering what your odds of winning are.
If you have a pocket pair and miss the flop, the odds of hitting your set on the river is 4%. Obviously the odds are 4% on the turn as well. Your combined odds are 8% of hitting a set after an empty flop while holding a pocket pair.
Open ended straight draw makes you 17% for the turn or river. You have a combined chance of 32% for hitting your straight after the flop altogether.
A flush is 19% and 35% under the same scenario.
The odds of receiving any pocket pair is 5.88%.
The odds of receiving any one particular pocket pair is .45%.
The odds of flopping a set with a pocket pair is 11.8%.
Knowledge of different poker odds in different scenarios can really help your game as you can process your hand and scenario quickly and act smoothly without giving away information that you are trying to calculate odds or risk.
