Poker Players Tweeting at WSOP

As we continue to move into the next layer of web 2.0, businesses are picking up on tech trends and incorporating into their marketing scheme. Twitter has become all the rage and now even players playing in the WSOP are twittering or tweeting (whichever you prefer) between action.

If you’re still in the dark on Twitter, the concept is VERY simple. Twitter has been deemed a “micro blog” which means all it is a web page that allows you to type in a quick message and press enter so everyone can see what you’re doing or thinking. The funny thing about Twitter is that it is the most unsophisticated web platforms out there, yet everyone feels so cutting edge for being involved.

The World Series of Poker now shows you an icon next to each player that is twittering or has twittered over the duration of the tournament. You won’t go directly to Twitter because the WSOP wants to make some money off of it. Instead, you’ll see a page on BluffMagazine with the updates. Here is Phil Hellmuth’s WSOP Twitter.

I’m a little down because my poker horse (Raymer) went down in third place with pocket 5s of all hands.  It appears he was all-in against 9s preflop.  If so, I don’t like the play.  Raymer knows what he is doing, but strong play with low pocket pairs gets me in trouble more often than not.  You’re either dominated or a coin flip.
