If you live under a rock then you probably have no idea how delicious pomegranates are and that they are very healthy for you. You see pomegranates at the store for about a buck a piece and most people do not know how to eat them. It’s a fairly simple process that takes a knife, a bowl of cool water and a spoon. Cut the pomegranate in quarters and let it soak for about 5 minutes in the bowl of cool water. Some of the succulent seeds may fall away from the rind (the seeds are what you want), no problem if you have a strainer. After they soak, simply use the spoon and carefully scoop the seeds out of it and into a small bowl. You’ll notice that they look like little kernels and are often referred to as kernels. Once they are all scooped out, you can eat them with the spoon.
Now if you don’t feel like going through all that work but still want to enjoy the health benefits and flavor of a pomegranate there is always “POM Wonderful”, a 100% pomegranate juice.
POM Wonderful is 100% pomegranate juice from concentrate and comes in a cool bottle that the company manufactures themselves. You may see other pomegranate juices in the supermarket but POM Wonderful pomegranates are grown right here in the United States. So how does POM Wonderful taste? Not much different than a fresh pomegranate. It is kind of thick and has a very strong flavor. The strong flavor is both a sweet and tart flavor kind of like cranberry juice, which is also very healthy for you. The small 8 oz. bottles of POM Wonderful are great for on the go to pack in your child’s lunch box or in your own. If they flavor is too strong for you, you could probably mix it with 4 oz. of water in a 12 oz. bottle and it would still taste good. As long as you drink all of it you still get the benefits.
So why are pomegranates good for you? Clinical study has shown that this antioxidant rich fruit is good for cardiovascular and prostate health as well as erectile function.
