Ponies and Global Warming

A look at the various virals that have landed in my inbox this week.

Starponyz
is a social network application targeted at horse and pony tween fans – which will primarily be young girls. You can join and share your tips and stories with likeminded fans. Somethig I may have joined when I was much, much, younger although it may have been too cute for me even then. To help promote it they have developed a ‘build your own Showponyz where you can customise your own avatar, even bringing in the fantasy of a unicorn or flying horse. Nice tools, well put together and a network targeting a rich area. I can see this working.

Showponyz

Next up, just a simple video to promote Guitar Hero 2, that deceptive game that just pulls you in and makes you want to play with the best. And here you can save the world from impending doom just with your guitar.

On a more serious issue than games, Adventure Ecology has been flooding parts of Second Life to promote climate awareness. There’s a video over on YouTube. Take a look at their site, a lot of great information on it, including the factoid that a SL avatar consumes nearly as much energy as a RL person! It challenges you to get out and do something, from changing a lightbulb to changing your whole life.

And from one eco-friendly company to one that would love to be – a rather disturbing ad for Ford promoting their Flexifuel technology.

And finally, there’s another one from Sunshine – what would you record as your last message to Earth. That Danny Boyle’s going to be busy for a while, judging all these UGC contests around the film ;-)
