True or False?
If you lose weight, you will lose cellulite.
Place your bets now, and click below for the answer.
Losing weight will shrink your fat cells, but not make them disappear. Therefore, the look of your cellulite will improve, but it won’t vanish completely.
Cellulite is pockets of fat that have worked their way through the bands of tissue that connect your muscles to your skin.
Unfortunately, no one knows what causes it and why some people have it and some people don’t. Obviously, the more fat you have, the better your chance for cellulite will be, but thin girls are not immune.
I have it on the back of my thighs! I’ve always had it. Anyone else brave enough to admit it? Or admit that they don’t have it and risk the rest of us shunning you forever more?

Sadly, this statement is false. Bummer.
In any case, cellulite sucks!
I used to have a shar-pei. :)
I may have it right beneath my butt. Or maybe I’m just getting wrinkles. Either way…sucks.
hate that stuff. for me, butt and back of thighs…all the way. no shame in my game. ;)
So this has nothing to do with cellulite, but I have a random work-out question. I hear lots about using weight training to even out imbalances (of which I have a lot – my right side is a ton stronger than my left). Sooo … how exactly do you do this? It sounds like you would just work out the weaker side, but it feels weird not to do both.
Hope you feel better!
It is false, I’ve read somewhere that even with weight loss you cannot lose cellulite (I hope that isn’t true though!)
Sigh… I swear I’ve had cellulite on the back of my thighs since middle school! What has hurt the most so far regarding that though is that I joined a gym a couple of months ago and got one free “session” with a personal trainer. First of all, the session was a complete joke since all I got was a general routine that they give to all new members, but second of all the woman (who was also a body builder) took my weight and measurements and criticized everything about me. She pointed out the cellulite on the back of my thighs and how I was horrible looking for a 20-year old. Yes, I know I’m overweight for my height/age (5′7, 158 lbs), yes, I know most girls my age don’t have to worry about weight issues. But she didn’t even ask me about my eating habits or exercise routine at that point! I frickin’ have been running 3-4 days a week and eating healthy for a year now and have lost 22 lbs since starting college. She never asked though, and I haven’t talked to her since. I don’t want to pay money to be insulted and disrespected.
Yep — got it on my thighs, too! No amount of working out is going to get rid of it, but it does look better since I’ve been running more. I’ve made peace with it. Life is too short.
um…if you saw my butt, you would know the answer is No.
Definitely False, and that picture is hilarious.
Kristie Lynn’s story is horrendous! I can’t believe that someone who’s role is to improve your health would put you down so much! That is just so wrong! :(
I’ve got cellulite!
I knew that one was definitely false. I have it on my butt and the backs of my thighs. When I hit my body fat it looked a lot better but if I gain an ounce back it comes right back as if it never left. I just figure 95% of women have it, no matter how thin they are and try not to focus on it too much.
@Kristie Lynn – I am sorry that you had such a bad experience. Personally, I never use the free personal trainer sessions that they give you at the gym. I think it would be a great resource for asking them to show you how to use the machines, but not for coming up with a personal training plan. You can do that on your own from just reading a few books. I would recommend “Body for Life for Women” or “The New Rules of Lifting for Women” for ideas for coming up with your own routine.
@rebecca – I have the same problem. My left arm is stronger since I bowl regularly with my left arm, but my left leg is weaker from an injury in a car accident. Talk about imbalances! I do not workout only one side of my body. When I do bicep curls, I use the same weight for both side. When I do squats, I hold the same weight. The only difference is that I let my weaker side be my guide. When it reaches fatigue, that is when I stop even though my stronger side can keep going. And I do a lot of Pilates, yoga, and trigger point release massages to help with my recovery. It is slow, but my weaker side is getting stronger and that gap in strength is closing.
As for cellulite, I just have little bit on the back of my thighs. But all the squats and lunges are helping because as I can see that it is less visible the more muscle I put on. But I am not too worry about it – I am just happy to be able to move.
Stupid question, but I’ve never really gotten it, what exactly IS cellulite? The little wrinklies? Doesn’t everyone have those?
Sounds to me like cellulite is just the same as stretch marks. 99% of the population has got them!
Kristie Lynn- Ugh, this is yet again why I dont like big gyms. You have to look at it from her angle- the more awful you feel about yourself. the more likely you are to shell out money for sessions, which is the only way they make their money. Research a trainer if you really want one, but the best and cheapest thing you can do is learn as much as you possibly can and train yourself, if you have specific questions, you know where i am!!
Rebecca- I already emailed you but just for everyone else- im going to answer her question in an upcoming post, except asithi did a great job on her own so THANKS FOR STEALING CONTENT AWAY FROM ME. Just kidding, Ill still post but in the meantime, asithi is on the right track.
asithi- thanks for all your insight. Strength training does help because the more rock solid you are, the smoother you look.
Sagan- think cottage cheese. thats cellulite. i have stretch marks too on my inner thighs. they are really only visible when I am tan, but its cool cause i like being tan. an even trade, lol.
@ Kelly – You welcome. I’m a mind reader, I can tell that will be an upcoming post topic. :D
yeah, I’ve got cellulite on the backs of my thighs and bottom of my bottom! I flinch a bit when I get touched there by a new lover there, cos the rest of me is so smooth in comparison. But apart from those intimate moments, I dont really think about it :D I figure that we are not meant to be perfect! ;)
