Pope Benedict XVI addressed a gathering of Roman Catholics in Sydney, Australia and urged them to reject what he termed a “spiritual dessert” that was spreading throughout the world.
The Pope said the recipe for Heavenly Chocolate Cake featured on a recent episode of Giada de Laurentiis’ show Everyday Italian was really ‘devil’s food’ cake made from a mix.
Benedict went on to say watching Ms. de Laurentiis could lead to a whole host of other activities that the Catholic Church has traditionally frowned upon.

The Pontiff also spoke out against the “material prosperity..and insatiable consumption” after landing in a private helicopter at the horse racing track where he addressed the faithful.
In a related story, the Holy See said it would look to modernize and change how the Pope was traditionally marketed. Among the options being considered, a new MTV reality show entitled The Celibate Life and referring to the pontiff as Benedicto The Square Root of 256.
