PR Blog Posts I’m Putting Off Writing

Okay, sometimes I procrastinate.

Here are the posts I have almost written in the last 24 hours.

Google News Echo:  The morasse of puffery that equal time links for newsmakers will create in Google News and would create in Wikipedia, if they enabled them. I still think it’s a good idea. Let the witless companies bury themselves with their own vapid jargon. Just give readers the opportunity to vote on the newsmakers’ efforts.

Michael Vick Jersey $109:  Either Sport Chek doesn’t read the papers, or they have no shame.  In an industry based on reputations and personal brand appeal, selling memorabilia about pariahs is only marginally profitable.

Rediscovering Seth Godin: After a while away from his blog, I went through my Seth Godin feed and selected eight items to share with others. That’s good thinking, good writing and good communicating.

Corporate Wikipedia Spin:  God, I hate when someone looks at the IP address and immediately assumes that everything done on an organizations’ computer network is part of a nasty conspiracy. (Of course, too often it’s true.)  An appeal for restraint when analyzing the editing practices of people who make changes to Wikipedia on their work computer. (I’m fascinated by the multiple edits of the Pirates of the Spanish Main entry by someone at Edelman. PR shill surreptitiously changing a client’s entry? Aw, turns out it’s someone who moonlights for the game company that makes Pirates. Not as interesting a story…)

It’s not Always about the Money:  Todd Defren bemoans the fate of a PR industry buffeted by high salary demands.  Good pay is worth pursuing, but if that’s all you care about, what kind of career are you going to build?
