Pro Tools LE Controller App: ProRemote

ProRemoteGizmodo is reporting on a new application for the iPhone that “fully realizes the possibilities of touch surfaces as specialized control interfaces.” ProRemote is an application that allows you to control Pro Tools LE with realtime feedback.

Posted on the articles page (link below) is a video of ProRemote in action. This really shows off the possibilities of the iPhone. True in the past we have had mobile applications that could control things like Winamp or a telescope, but this application really shows one of the pluses on the future for mobile computing.

At the moment, the server is Mac only but programmer Alex Lelievre told Gizmodo to expect a Windows version later in time. The application runs on both jailbroken (hacked) iPhones and iPod Touches.

One of the coolest points of the application is it works over the EDGE network too. So, you can control Pro Tools literally from anywhere in the world with a cell phone signal.

The final release of the application won’t come until February, when Apple officially releases the iPhone SDK and the application can be certified by Apple.

Price? $150. As Alex puts it, “By the time I have gotten up and walked over to my console 10 times to adjust the levels, I no longer want to play music. This software allows me to control my rig from the drums or my guitar setup and hopefully keep the music flowing.”
