Promoting Your Online Store

Yesterday I talked about some of the different places you could set up an online store front for your small business. Today I want to follow that up with a few ways to promote your online store once you’ve set it up. I think I’ll follow up with more detail for some of these online promotion methods in the upcoming weeks. Today though I just want to give you the basics, and some of the possibilities.

store front

Most of these methods are either very low cost or free.

  1. Twitter~ If you have an online store, set up a Twitter account in your name, or your stores name. You can Tweet about new products and any specials you might have, or give followers tips and tricks related to your craft.
  2. Facebook~ You post links to some of your favorite products, or set up a fan page so people can become fans of your store.
  3. Squidoo~ I’m a Squidoo fan. You can set up a Squidoo lens about your store, or set up a group of lenses about the item groups in your store. Be helpful in your lens, give tips, or basic how to instructions. There are several lenses already there created by shopkeepers, so stop by and check some of them out. It’s a very helpful community, so if you struggle a little starting out, they’ll be happy to help. I’ll be back to explain this one in more detail, because it’s a great pair for many online businesses.
  4. Create a video for Youtube, or one of the other video based sites~ Create videos related to your products, and use them to promote your business with video.
  5. Set up a blog, or offer guest blog posts, or an item to giveaway to blogs related to your products.

There are many more out there if dig around. These are just a few of my favorite promotion methods. What are your favorite ways to promote your online store?
