Punch-Out! Coming to Nintendo Wii

An updated version of Punch-Out! is being released for the Nintendo Wii on May 18,
2009 and, I cannot lie to you, I’m pretty excited! I don’t play a lot of these types of games but, back in the day, I loved this game on the NES and SNES. It’s not that I don’t like boxing on games like Wii Sports but it’s fun to have this classic game make a reappearance.
Of course, Nintendo has made some upgrades. This newest version will be the first to use three-dimensional graphics and to incorporate full motion video.
Unfortunately, Mike Tyson won’t be available on the Wii version (he only appeared on the NES version of Punch-Out!). I was also a fan of Bear Hugger but he wasn’t included either. I am happy to see people like Glass Joe (the way he falls apart cracks me up!).
Here’s the list of characters that have made it to the Wii version:
- Aran Ryan
- Bald Bull
- Banana Bruiser
- Disco Kid
- Don Flamenco
- Dragon Chan
- Glass Joe
- Great Tiger
- King Hippo
- Masked Muscle
- Mr. Dream
- Mr. Sandman
- Narcis Prince
- Piston Honda
- Pizza Pasta
- Super Macho Man
- Vodka Drunkenski/Soda Popinski
- Von Kaiser
I will definitely at the front of the line when this game comes out later this year. Check out the trailer to see what some of the updated characters look like.
