Pure Weight Loss Closing Under Investigation

(FranchisePick.Com) According to a Philadelphia Inquirer story today, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office is investigating the closing of Pure Weight Loss Inc., formerly L.A. Weight Loss, which closed its centers nationwide last week.
Nils Frederiksen, deputy press secretary for the Attorney General’s Office, had this to say:
- Consumer-protection investigations can be lengthy, so it may take a while
- PWL customers are urged to file a formal complaint with the Attorney General’s Office.
- Their office is particularly interested in hearing from customers “who signed up for the program recently or talked with sales representatives late last year.”
- Customers are urged to move quickly to cancel credit card payments to the company, dispute payments, or call financing companies.
A spokeswoman for CareCredit, which provided financing for some Pure Weight Loss customers, was quoted as saying that ”customers would not have to continue making credit payments if they followed the company’s dispute-resolution process. The number customers should call is on their CareCredit billing statement.”

Sean; good for you. Your posts on this have really hit a chord.
I was really diappointed when I went to the center to pick up a few of “MY PRE PAID PRODUCTS”, only to have a very disappointed employee to tell me, there were no products on the premises to pick up. NO WARNING at all, not even a phone call to customers to tell us of the closing before it acutally happened, SHAME ON YOU PURE WEIGHT LOSS, SHAME ON YOU, you expected the clients to sign the contracts when we agreed to join, and paid for the services, and WE/I expect the same in return,. I really hope we clients will be compensated for what ever each of us are entitled to because of your untimely decision to bail out on us without warning. I want what’s rightfully owed to me. I really hope someone from Pure Weight Loss (Corporate Headquarters) would be reading some of our concerns.
