Pushing Yourself to Workout

Dedication to your workout usually hits a plateau at some point or another. I like working out but I hit lulls after legitimate rest periods which parlay into 3-4 days off at one time. I hit chest, triceps, and shoulder today, but almost skipped. I had been lazy all day and there was no reason not to exercise so I eventually forced myself to the gym.

The workout was a productive one despite my lack of energy. I got in 1 set of 225 lbs bench for 10 reps, 1 set of 245 lbs for 5 reps, and two more low rep sets at 225. In addition to the regular bench, I completed several other shoulder, triceps, and chest exercises.

The key to getting through this workout was just making it happen. You’re not always going to feel like working out and when you do get to the gym, great workouts don’t happen everyday. However, you don’t need perfection. The foundation to success is a commitment to working out and consistency in sticking to the plan.

Tell yourself you can have a light workout. Get in the car and just drive to the gym. Watch a video that inspires you. Think of your goals. Look at your medical/health insurance bills. Whatever it takes, push yourself to get in the gym when you can.
