Rangel Warns: Don’t Go To Harlem Without ID
– Congressman Fears That President May Be Audited For Shady Tax Dealings By the IRS, Just Like He Was –
Charles Rangel warned President Obama over the weekend to not go to Harlem without ID. Many pundits assumed that Rangel was making an ill-advised joke in the wake of a recent shooting of a black policeman in New York City.
Rangel’s office attempted to clear up any misunderstanding by noting that the House Ways and Means Chairman was only warning Obama to watch out for IRS agents who might be looking to disallow the President’s expense account for a night out on the town in the Big Apple.
“These IRS guys have found something wrong with every property I own,” said Rangel, “I just wanted President Obama to know that, if he owns an office building or vacation property, they’ll probably want him to pay taxes on it or something crazy like that.”
Despite heading the chief tax-writing committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, Rangel has found it diffuicult to comply with tax laws on a single piece of property he’s owned in the last 10 years.
