Ravens Videos – Out of Bounds and Play Clock

Another classic NFL playoff game. Another game where the officiating will be talked about more than the game itself. In the pair of videos alone, you can see two apparent violations by the Baltimore Ravens.

First, you see where Joe Flacco appeared to step out of the end zone — which should have been a safety. In the second video, it appears as if the play clock expires before the Ravens get the snap.

The hard part for the Tennessee Titans to swallow is that either play can be pointed to as a main reason for their 13-10 loss. If Flacco gets called for the safety, the Titans take a 12-10 lead and then can simply rely on their defense. If the Ravens get called for a delay of game, their forthcoming game-winning field goal would likely have been much more difficult.

Now the Titans get to mull both instances in their long offseason. And around water coolers, we’ll be talking about the officials instead of the game. Maybe one day the NFL can come up with a system in which they can use replay to *gasp* overturn bad calls that actually affect the outcome of important games.

    Yeah. Bad Call.

But, Titans would have lost anyway.
