Reading books by installment via RSS
Hi! This is the first post for the category Web Feeds and it is all about Web Feeds. What I mean is that in this category we will be featuring the webfeeds whether they maybe in form of RSS or Atom. And the first we will be featuring today will be the feed of DailyLit.
DailyLit is a free service that provides and delivers parts of a book or literary work, which are already in the public domain or are covered by creative commons license, to the reader through email or RSS feeds.
According to DailyLit:
We created DailyLit because we spent hours each day on email but couldn’t find the time to read a book. Now the books come to us by email. Problem solved. We will use this blog to write about new features and (hopefully) receive feedback from readers[Source]
Although one and can register to DailyLit this is not required and one can start reading by selecting the book and choosing to receive it by email or RSS. The user can paste the RSS url into a reader or opt to subscribe using Firefox. DailyLit also has blog that informs its punters as to what is happening and what is new in Daily Lit. The service itself email and RSS is fully customisable each email and post contains options the reader can click.
Evaluation of the RSS Feed
The feed comes in full text and with options to: (i) add next installment immediately, (ii) Suspend subscription; (iii) Discuss with other readers in the forum; and (iv) Manage all subscriptions. And it also comes with Sponsored Links.
One advantage of the full text post is that one does not need to go back to the website.
I like it because (i) It gives the full text and (2) It is customizable. Actually, It is an innovative way to use emails and rss feeds.
