As I was surfing the internet today, I came across an article on CIO.com about the best BlackBerry Apps. One of the apps mentioned is a real-time coupon delivery app for cellular phones from Cellfire.com. The app is actually not restricted to Blackberry users but rather works with several cellular carriers and cell phones, but one thing remains constant – the service is free (unless you’re an Alltel or Cellular South customer – both charge $1.99 per month to access Cellfire).
Consumers simply access the Cellfire app from their mobile phones and current coupons are delivered to them for their areas from companies such as Kroger, GameStop, Hollywood Video, KFC, Arby’s, Sears Portrait Studio, Hardees, Subway, Quiznos, SuperCuts, Domino’s Pizza and more.
The list of companies and brands turning to mobile couponing through companies like Cellfire is growing quickly. It seems like a great idea for consumers who often forget coupons at home or don’t take the time to clip hard copy coupons or print them from websites. Mobile, real-time coupons that are delivered for free when a consumer requests them is definitely a great marketing tactic. It’s less obtrusive than mobile ads that are served automatically and often amount to nothing more than annoyances.
What do you think of on demand mobile coupons?
