Reggie and Kim: Tying the Knot . . . or Not?

The celebrity tabloids are all atwitter, so we’ll join in the frivolous fray: Are Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian engaged?

Hey, never mind saying “Who cares?” in that cynical tone!  . . . Oh, wait. That was yours truly talking out loud again . . .

Maybe our shoulder shrug has to do with the fact that the girlfriend of the New Orleans Saints RB is a “celebrity” for no discernible reason. Kim, best known as the fame-seeking, naughty tape-starring daughter of a rich daddy (the late O.J.-defending lawyer Robert Kardashian) who now has her own reality show, was spotted with a barely noticeable 7-karat sparkler on The Finger That Counts.

Bush was a college hotshot but hasn’t quite lived up to his billing in the NFL. The two seemed less-than-together in October, when Reggie was purportedly out and about with a ”mystery blonde,” but apparently the signs pointing to Paradise Lost were misread.

The rumor mill churned away when the diamond went public, but OK! magazine now claims we should hold off on throwing the happy couple a stag and shower just yet: Kardashian’s rep nixed the engagement talk.

Darn! Guess that means we have to return that fondue set we picked up for them, too. Unless Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson make the leap . . .
