Reggie Bush and the Saints are ready to clean up the disaster

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Reggie has the city dancing
You mean Hurricane Katrina?
No, that was an unbelievably huge disaster. Katrina is totally out of the scope of anything that has to do with football.
So what do you mean?
The disaster is the New Orleans franchise.
What? They are cooking now. Have you seen Drew, Deuce, and Reggie? What are you talking about?
You’re a little slow aren’t ya? This has to do with the Saints aint been there. For that matter it has been quite a long time for the Bears!
Two decades and forever. That’s the time span between trips to the Super Bowl for the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints.
While various players from each side have been to the NFL’s biggest game with other teams, these are two organizations mired in, well, Super droughts. The last time the Bears played for the league title, it was in January 1986, and the stars were named Payton, Singletary, Hampton and McMahon. The defense was overwhelming and Da Coach, Mike Ditka, was overbearing.
That 21-year hiatus is distressing in Chicago, but it’s also 19 years shorter than the span New Orleans has gone without a Super Bowl trip. Those four decades make up merely all of the Saints’ existence. source
Time to heal
Your intrepid author keeps saying this over and over, but it will take so much to heal this city. The USA needs this city to heal. It has become almost a focal point of how strong and resilient we are as a nation.
Don’t read too much into this, because football is not going to magically heal this city. That is not my point at all.
No, it won’t heal it, but it does give much of the community something to rally around, something to point to and be proud and excited. To hear it in the words of one of the players:
“I say this all along, and I have throughout the course of the season,” said linebacker Scott Fujita, in his first year with the Saints: “I have never been on a team where I really felt like the community and the team were in it together. And that’s not just lip service, that’s the truth.
“They’ll react the way they always do, and then some. The last playoff victory over Philadelphia, it’s just been a great city to be a part of. That atmosphere is contagious and the players feed off of it. The coaches are encouraged by it.”
A Community brought together
Nobody knows how long this will last or, if when the run is over by the Saints, will the spirit of it all be lost, but that is not to be worried about right now.
Right now there is a game against the Bears on Sunday in Soldier field in Chicago and a Nation will be watching, while a community will be cheering.
Should Reggie Bush get off a long punt return at some point in the game, you may hear some cheering all the way from New Orleans.
