Reggie Bush is for real, after all

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Reggie Bush can fly

Reggie BushHe was the second pick in the draft, not the first. He has the speed, the moves, the pedigree, but frankly, had not done a whole lot to justify his media superstar image. It was time for Reggie Bush to step up and step up he did.

Reggie had 4 touchdowns in the Saints victory over San Francisco.

He did have a little bit of extra motivation… as his USC Trojans lost the night before to UCLA, thus knocking them out of the bowl championship.

College Detour

Sideline to College trip How interesting is it that Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel does not vote in the final coaches poll and arch rival Michigan loses the Coaches poll to University of Florida?

Another Sideline to College trip Poor Michigan, all they get is a Rose Bowl with USC. There are a lot of teams that would give anything to be in that bowl game.

Reggie can catch

Now whatever his motivation, Reggie has become a fantastic receiver and showed it once again in this game with 9 receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown. We have a tendency to see Reggie as only this dancing receiver, but he came into the game with more yards receiving than rushing.

Drew can throw

It never hurts to have a quarterback like Drew Brees helping you out. Drew had already thrown for over 3400 yards and 19 touchdowns going into this game. You can add 186 yards and a TD to Reggie in this game. This is the third year in a row that Drew has been over 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns.

We need to slow down with the hero worship here and look at something even more remarkable.

They Saints ain’t the Aints no more

New Orleans is 8 – 4. This puts them in first place in the NFC South. There is no way any of us would have predicted that.

Let’s try another one. The Saints not only stopped a red hot San Francisco team, a team that had lost just once in its last 4 tries (and that by a field goal at St. Louis), but the defense stopped a red hot Frank Gore, holding him to only 40 yards in the game. Gore’s last 3 games had been 159 yards, 212 yards, and 134 yards.

We are compelled, no, forced to come to the opinion that this Saints team is pretty darn good. In fact, they may be Super Bowl bound good.

Don’t forget to vote in the poll hidden in the right side bar.

NFL Football Fan Question Is Reggie for real or just benefiting from the Saint’s great year? Can New Orleans close it out in fashion and make the Super Bowl?

As always, any NFL Football related comments are welcome.
