Reggie Bush is running into more trouble – USC may pay the price

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
It was reported in the Los Angeles Times that Reggie Bush did more than not pay the 54,000 dollars in rent for a house for Mom. He took money, travel, and hotel stays.
My father once told me that modern athletics is all about money. He said that back in his days at Wabash College, home of the Wabash Cannonball, that the athletes were true amateurs. A return to that philosophy, he promised, would solve all of the problems that existed in Sports.
Hmm, your intrepid, but still a youth, writer thought to himself, “that Dad, he knows all the answers”. Then my Dad uttered some words that ruined all my illusions. He said, “of course, they could never do that, because there is too much money involved”. Ouch!
USA Today goes on to tell how two agents were fighting for Reggie Bush’s signature on a contract to represent him as a pro. Big, big bucks and Big, big hypocrisy are involved.
Bush, of course, says that the allegations mean nothing and it will all be explained away. Don’t you hate when someone accuses you of taking 100 G’s illegally?
The shame of it all is that Reggie Bush is headed towards being a star in the NFL and is doing a lot of good things in New Orleans. The good people in New Orleans could use something exciting to take their minds off of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The NFL is marketing Reggie Bush heavily and would love for all of this to be quietly explained away.
NFL Football Fan Question Don’t know about you, but the Squibster gets oh so tired of opening the Sports page and reading about everything except sports. How do you cope with it?
