Given the time it seems to take to get an interview, let alone a job offer, I know there are many of you trying to understand what else you can do to continue to remain focused in your job search. Nice service. I would be interested in learning how people are responding and their level of interest in the seminars. I find that some times people become heavy hearted leading them to do less and are reluctant to become a part of a service like this. Keep us abreast of how things evolve. Great for you to step out and do this.
Hi Jason! Thanks for stopping by bizzia Careers! I saw a few other comments you left recently. I apologize for not responding. My schedule has been fairly busy. But I should be landing in the next few weeks when school is out.
In any case, thanks for your comments. I will keep you posted on Job Re-Joov. There are some clips on their website that includes interviews with job seekers. I will definitely be writing about the webinar that I do with them at the end of April.
You know I love a challenge. I will do some research on what you mention in your comment about job seekers becoming heavy hearted. I know you are accurate. It is one of the reasons why I try to speak from a place of optimism and faith here on my blog/career column. But there is something to your comment that intrigues me and gives me something to chew and ultimately write about. Be blessed in your day today and stop by any time!
Darlene
Hi Jason: I think you’re quite right in your assessment of job seekers perhaps being reluctant to seek out a service like this. My intention in developing it was for it to be LESS of a “teachable moment” and MORE of a “support moment”. I was laid off in November of 2008 and am still in the middle of my own job search and created JobReJoov together as a response to my own emotional ups and downs in this process, and a way to give back and get out of focusing just on me! (Easy to do in the job searching process, isn’t it?)
My intention was to provide a safe place for people to network, tell their story, most importantly be listened to … and the job seeking skills portion is really a nice “extra”. But we’re getting such great speakers (like Darlene) that I think the skills portion will become equally as attractive as the support side. Thanks for the affirmation. ~ Carol / Founder, JobReJoov
